General Guidelines and Advice
- All problem numbers refer to Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems by Boyce and DiPrima, Tenth edition. Beware: an eleventh edition has been published.
- All work that you submit under your name should be your own. You may discuss these problems with me and with friends/colleagues also registered in our section.
- To receive full credit for a problem, a solution must include the steps taken to obtain the result, and the logic which justifies the steps must be sound. It is not enough to conclude with the correct answer; the path to the answer must also be correct.
- Most learning occurs while working on homework problems. Resist the temptation to bend or break the guidelines above to earn a few homework points at the expense of true learning. The quizzes, tests, and exams are weighted more heavily than homeworks.
- If you get stuck, then please feel free to see me in office hours or contact me via email.
- Answers to most questions are available at the end of the book.
